Claudia Malan Crawford
Claudia Malan Crawford was reunited with her favorite dance partner on December 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Claudia was born August 21, 1939 in Ogden, Utah, the youngest of five children. She was proud to be a part of the Malan family, embracing its many traditions and values that shaped her life. Claudia met and married the love of her life in the Logan, Utah Temple, Darrell Boyd Crawford, and together they created a family full of love, laughter, and memories. Their bond was unbreakable, and now, after many years, she is joyfully reunited with him.
Claudia graduated from Ogden High School in 1957 where she was President of the Red Cross and in the Spirit Club. She attended Weber State College and was on the Colleens Dance Team. She also received her Cosmetology degree from Weber State College. Claudia pursued her passion for beauty and creativity, becoming a skilled cosmetologist and opening her own beauty shop. Her talent extended beyond the salon, as she was known for her artistic endeavors, from quilting beautiful pieces and creating paintings that will be treasured by all who received them. She loved to cook, where she shared her love through every meal prepared with care.
She lived an active and adventurous life, enjoying hiking, walking, skiing, yoga, Pilates, and traveling to new places. She always sought to stay engaged in the world around her, whether it was through physical activity, exploration, or discovering new creative outlets.
Claudia’s life was one filled with service, whether she was delivering her famous homemade cinnamon rolls to friends and neighbors or volunteering her time to those in need. Claudia always found ways to lift others up. She never hesitated to offer a listening ear or a helping hand, and her kindness was felt by everyone she encountered.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Claudia found joy in serving in many roles, in her ward and stake including an Ogden Inner City Mission with her husband. She was also a member of the Bay View Club, Book Club, Junior League, Otyokwa Sorority, Quilting Guilds and a longtime member of the Soroptimist Club, where she made many cherished friends over the years.
Claudia is survived by four children, Claudette Halverson (Brad Carlin), John Malan Crawford, Charlotte Jensen (Sean), James Malan Crawford (Chersti); 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd, her parents Claude and Asta Malan, Sister Margaret and brothers Ben, Ned and Tim. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, creativity, and service will live on forever.
Friends may visit with family on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00pm or Saturday the 21st before the service from 1:30 – 2:40pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. The funeral service will be held on December 21, 2024 at 3:00pm at Myers Mortuary.
