Clara Jean Bellingham
Clara Jean Bellingham, known fondly as Jean, left us on December 14, 2024 to be joined with her Father in Heaven and her loved ones that have gone before her, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her. Born in Ogden, Utah on November 7, 1937, Clara spent the better part of her 87 years carving a life that was as vibrant and lively as she was. Known for her compassionate nature, her generous heart, her thoughtful gestures, and her funny anecdotes, Clara left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she faithfully served in the relief society. A verse that was particularly significant to Clara was: “Charity never faileth.” – 1 Corinthians 13:8.
Clara was a fiercely independent woman, never shying away from challenges and always keen to do things for herself. She spent a significant portion of her career as a defense disposal employee at Hill Air Force Base, contributing to her community and country with dedication and diligence. In her spare time, Clara enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing golf, and cheering on the Utah Jazz. She also took great pleasure in watching her two sons play sports, a testament to her unwavering love for her family. Clara also served as the secretary for the Clubview Condo and was an active member of the Elks Lodge, and Shriners, filling her life with meaningful connections and experiences. The Family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Legacy House of Ogden and the nurses of Atlas Hospice care for the Love they showed before and during Jean’s last days of her life.
Clara is survived by her son, Neldon Kapp; and her daughters-in-law, Jan Kapp and Diane Kapp and Half Sister Judy Singleton. She has 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and VaCona Singleton, her sister, Beth (Ronald) VanMeeteren, her sister, Doris (Vaghn) Tingey, her son, Val Kapp, her husband, Arthur Bellingham, and 1st husband, Leon Kapp. Clara’s life was guided by her love for her family and her faith, and she will be remembered as a beacon of strength, humor, and love by all who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT. Viewings will be held at Myers on Friday, Dec. 20th from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday from 12 – 12:45 pm. Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
