Stephen Mark Wheeler
March 30, 1944 — December 6, 2024
Stephen Mark Wheeler, our loving husband, father, grandpa, and brother, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at his home. He was born on March 30, 1944, in Ogden, UT; the first son of Harold Grover Wheeler, and Betty Marie Pottorff. He had three younger brothers: Scott Wheeler, Jeffrey Wheeler (deceased), and David Wheeler. Stephen graduated from Ogden High School in 1962. He enjoyed skiing and often went with his mom and his brothers, then later with his own children. In his adult life he developed a love for swimming and basketball. He would go to the Deseret Gym to swim laps on a regular basis, and he would also meet his basketball group, known as the “Nooners”, for games on a regular basis, and he would even take his sons occasionally to join in. He served a full-time LDS mission in Mexico; throughout his life, he always shared stories, speaking highly of his time there and how it shaped his life for good.
On July 1, 1966, Stephen married the love of his life, Robyn Kay Larkins in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He then finished his bachelor’s degree in human anatomy at Weber State University in 1970, and decided he wanted to become a Chiropractor like his father, which led him to The National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, near Chicago Illinois. While attending school there, he served in the Army Reserves and worked to get himself through school. He loved his career and served his patients well until 2022.
Stephen and his family resided in Morgan for most of their married life. He traveled to his Chiropractic office in Ogden each day, where he worked with his father, Harold, his brother, Jeffrey, and later on, his son, Mark. He enjoyed serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a devout disciple of Jesus Christ and had a close relationship with Him.
Stephens greatest joy in life was his family and the time he spent with them. He knew every detail about what was happening with each family member and always enjoyed updates on what was happening. He always had a smile and a kind greeting for all of them and looked forward to every visit.
Stephen is survived by his spouse Robyn Kay Wheeler and three of his children: Monica Russell (Ben), Mark Stephen Wheeler (Laura), and Brant Tyler Wheeler (Jennifer). He is preceded in death by his youngest son, Casey Ryan Wheeler (Angie). He and Robyn were also blessed with 17 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 13th Ward Chapel, 125 E. 5350 S., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Morgan City Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to Enhabit Hospice with a special thank you to Stephen’s nurse Jen and his social worker, Miller, for their special care and friendship. The family would also like to thank Lindquist Mortuary and the Washington Terrace 13th Ward Relief Society for their service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be sent to any families in need during this holiday season.
