Born on April 26, 1969, in Logan, UT, she was a beacon of love and joy to all who knew her. Cindy’s life was characterized by her loving nature, spirited enthusiasm, and courageous heart.

Cindy began her journey as the cherished daughter of Gary A. Chapman and Cheryl Knight Chapman. Her loving family grew to include her devoted husband, Joe Heibel, whom she married on September 29, 1989, in West Point, UT. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Lyndsie Wilson (Trevor) of St. Peters, MO, and Baylie Heibel of St. Charles, MO. The joy of her life was further multiplied with the birth of her grandson, Jax Wilson.

Her siblings, Gary Chapman (Lori) of West Point, UT, Scott Swift of Clearfield, UT, and Buffy Chapman of West Haven, UT, shared Cindy’s many adventures and life’s milestones. Cindy was also a beloved member of the extended Heibel family, including her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Sandy Heibel, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Vona Heibel, and her grandmother-in-law, Eunice House. She was a treasured aunt to several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and held a special place in the hearts of her large Utah family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, who instilled in her the values of family and perseverance.

Cindy’s professional and community life was as full and rich as her family life. She was a remarkable entrepreneur with a gift for creating warm and welcoming spaces. Cindy’s hands lovingly shaped the future as she operated her own daycare business and later worked at the Hannibal Early Childhood Center. Her entrepreneurial spirit also led her to become the owner and operator of Cindy’s Nail Emporium. Most recently, Cindy further expanded her masterful quilt making talent by opening her own quilt shop, Cindy’s Nifty Stitches, in historic downtown Hannibal. Cindy believed in giving back to the community and was an active member of the Hannibal Piecemakers Quilt Guild, Hannibal King’s Daughters Circle, and the Hannibal Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

Cindy’s hobbies reflected her creativity and her passion for life. She was an accomplished quilter, creating memory quilts that captured treasured moments for countless families. Her love for the outdoors was evident in the many camping trips she enjoyed with her family, particularly in the Uinta Mountains in Utah. An avid traveler, Cindy found joy in trips to Nashville and cherished cruises to Mexico and the Bahamas with her sister, Buffy.

Cindy was the heart of her family’s gatherings, known as the best host and an awesome cook. Her homemaking skills were impeccable, from her love of doing laundry and ironing to teaching her children the “right way” to fold a fitted sheet. Her guiding mantra to her family was to “Make good choices,” a simple yet profound piece of advice that reflects her desire for their happiness and well-being.

Her musical tastes ranged from classic country icons like George Jones and Johnny Cash to the pop sounds of the ’80s with artists like George Michael and Elton John. Cindy’s spirit danced to the melodies that echoed the warmth of her personality.

Cindy’s life was one of heartfelt connections, enduring love, and the courage to embrace life fully. Cindy will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Cindy was always a strong supporter of her local community. The family requests memorials be made to support the donor’s favorite local charity in honor of Cindy.
