Albert (Buzz) Schultz
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Albert (Buzz) Schultz, a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, on November 28, 2024. Albert was born on March 8, 1943 in Grass Valley, CA, and spent the majority of his colorful life in beautiful Ogden, Utah. Buzz, as he was fondly known to family and friends, was a man of many talents, accomplishments, and adventures.
Buzz grew up in Hawthorne, NV and graduated from Mineral County High School in 1961. He joined the Army and while serving overseas met his future wife of 58 years Brigitte Mueller at a dance in 1963 in Darmstadt Germany. They were married on October 10, 1964 in Reno, NV and started a family in Hawthorne, NV where they lived for 17 years. In January 1981, the family moved to Ogden, UT.
Albert’s professional life was dedicated to serving his country. He was an Industrial Management Specialist and worked at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, UT, where he retired in 1993 after 31 years of civil service. Over his long career he worked for three different military branches: the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Buzz was a man of action and in his youth loved the thrill of high desert motorcycling racing. His love for the great outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing in Nevada, and he took pride in his rare catches of Trophy Rainbow and Tiger Trout. Albert was also a skilled bowler, having bowled a 300 game several times, and a proficient golfer, scoring a hole-in-one twice. He was also an avid traveler, having visited nearly every state in the US, including Alaska and Hawaii, and made numerous trips to Germany and other countries around the world.
Albert’s greatest joy was found in the time he spent with his family and friends. He was a caring and loving individual, always ready to lend a hand and bring a smile to those around him. He is survived by his son, Stephen (Stacey) Schultz; his mother, Josephine Gomez; his daughter, Christine (Kevin) Hasler; his half-brothers, Rick and Daniel Gomez; his grandsons, Ryker and Parker Schultz; his great-grandchildren, Halston, Kylee, Niklaus, and Diego Schultz. Albert was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Schultz, and his wife, Brigitte Schultz.
Albert’s legacy of love, adventure, and dedication will be missed by all who knew him. We invite you to share your memories and photos of Albert on his memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a tribute to his extraordinary life and will help us all remember the wonderful times we shared with him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, in lieu of flowers or cards, please consider a donation in Buzz’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
