Richard Robson Skeen

Richard Robson Skeen, 70, of Plain City, Utah, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024, surrounded by the outpouring of love from his family, after courageously battling necrotizing pancreatitis for six weeks.

Rich was born on October 14, 1953 to Wayne Hunt Skeen and Anna Jean Skeen (Robson), in Ogden, Utah. He lived in Weber County his whole life, graduating from Weber High School in 1971 and earning his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Weber State University in 1979.

Rich started his impressive accounting career as a Cost Analyst at Thiokol Corporation. After three years, he moved to Volvo White Truck Corporation, where he worked as a General Accountant/Financial Analysis Supervisor. Rich progressed in leadership as the Finance Director and Deputy Center Director at Clearfield Job Corps from 1991 until 1999, until he was promoted to headquarters at Management Training Center, as Vice President of Technology. Rich made invaluable contributions while he was at MTC until his retirement in December 2022. In parallel to his full-time career, Rich founded Professional Tax Service in 1987 and also joined Barber Tax Service in 1989, bringing on his daughter, Theresa, as a business partner in 1999. Rich took pride in consulting countless people in his life with taxes and investments.

In 1978, Rich met the love of his life, Janelle Fife, on the beach at Bear Lake. They married in 1979 and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1980. Rich and Janelle are the parents of 5 children and 12 grandchildren. Family was everything for Rich and when he was in your presence, he made you feel his love through his actions. Rich was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Rich served faithfully in many capacities, teaching by example and embodying the principles he held dear.

Rich is survived by his wife Janelle, five children, Theresa (Eric), Dustin (Michelle), Shane (Mckenzee), Shantel (Alyssa) and Baylee, twelve grandchildren: Ari Jensen, Lance Jensen, Nico Jensen, Landon Skeen, Cal Skeen, Graham Skeen, Nora Skeen, Olivia Skeen, Remi Skeen, Slater Skeen-Foutz, Emma Skeen, Scottie Skeen, and his brothers, Dave Skeen (Linda), Drew Skeen (LeAnne). He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Hunt Skeen and his mother, Anna Jean Robson Skeen.

A family graveside service will be held at the Plain City Cemetery, Tuesday, September 3rd at 11:30 AM (4373 W. 1975 N. Plain City)

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at Ogden Golf & Country Club, Tuesday, September 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 PM (4197 S. Washington Blvd, Ogden)
