Arcelia (Arcy) Maria Martinez

Aug 26, 2024

1944 – 2024

Arcelia (Arcy) Maria Martinez, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 23rd, 2024 at her home in Clinton, Utah. She was born on January 8th, 1944 in Chama, New Mexico to Santiago and Adelina Marez. Arcy was the oldest of five children. A 1962 Davis High School graduate, she went on to marry her soulmate, Chris Martinez. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they had three wonderful children; Tino (Lisa) Martinez, Antionette Stapley, and James (Kellie) Martinez. She is also survived by her brothers Raymond Marez, Louie Marez and Ruben (Shorty) Marez, Jake Martinez (Brother-in-laws) and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was a one-time Cancer survivor and a devout Catholic. She worked for the Federal Government at I.R.S. and Hill Air Force Base. She loved all who she worked with and made many friends. Mom was nothing short of outgoing. With her upbeat attitude and endless jokes, toothpaste on toilet seats, and goldfish in bathtubs to name a few. She really knew how to light up any room that she entered and not just with her bright outfits but with her beautiful smile. Mom loved to shop and we are sure she will be missed at her favorite stores. Her twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren with two on the way, that she loved dearly and was always there to support them in their life and achievements will miss her greatly. We will remember her work ethic, crazy stories, and her phone (camera) that she always had in hand. Mom loved taking pictures and sharing them with everyone.

Arcy is preceded in death by her parents, Lydia Wood (sister), Tracy Stapley (son-in-law), Isla Michelle Sugimoto (great-granddaughter), Patricio and Jesusita Martinez (father and mother-in-law), Fred Martinez, Gilbert Martinez (Brother-in-laws), Pricilla Martinez, Mary Ann Martinez, Betty Martinez Rusher (sister-in-laws).

The family would like to thank the hospice nurses and doctor for the love and caring hearts while taking care of our wife/mom.
