Alicia Castillo Gomez, 81, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, August 8, 2024. She was born in McAllen, Texas, on May 30, 1943, to Curz and Andrea Villarreal Castillo.

She married Joel Almendarez Gomez, Sr. on July 19, 1961, in Milford, Illinois. They enjoyed 51 years together until Joel’s passing on December 20, 2012.

Alicia enjoyed fishing, camping, sewing baby blankets, and cooking. She was also a great seamstress and willing to help others in need. She also enjoyed spending time with family and traveling.

Alicia is survived by her daughters, Andrea (Tomas) Martinez, West Valley; Amelia Gomez Dwyer, North Ogden; and Mary Ester, (Dar) Laub, Clinton; sons, Joel, Jr. (Geri) Gomez, Clinton; and Alexander Gomez, Clearfield; 21 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 3 brothers, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Joel A. Gomez, II; grandsons, Michael Dwyer and Anthony Dwyer, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Michael Joel Thomas Whitaker, Anthony Dwyer, Jr. and Alyssa Marie Bemis; and 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 380 South 200 East, Brigham City. Friends may visit with family on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
