David Ybarra

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Ybarra, who departed this earth on October 29, 2023. A beloved father of six and a devoted husband, he faced life’s challenges with unwavering courage and determination. Leaving behind a legacy of inspiration and love, David will forever grace the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
David battled cancer with a strength that inspired everyone who had the privilege of witnessing his journey. But David’s life was about more than just his battle with illness. He had an unquenchable thirst for life and cherished the moments spent with his family. He was an avid fan of sporting events, and his enthusiasm was contagious. His passion for sports extended to his role as a coach for his children’s teams, where he imparted valuable life lessons to countless young athletes. He instilled in them the values of teamwork, discipline, and the importance of never giving up, a testament to his unwavering dedication to the success of his loved ones.
He was more than a father, husband, and friend; he was an embodiment of strength and determination, an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will continue to inspire us to face life’s challenges with the same courage and determination that he exhibited throughout his life.
David is survived by his loving wife, Jarica Ybarra; six children, Alyea, Nevaeh, Talyeah, Siara, Khloe, Kiana, Davien; and his two fur boys, Jax and Nipsey; his mother, Kimberly Arthurs; his grandparents, Terrence and Patricia Arthurs, Mary “GG” Ybarra; and his seven siblings, Elisa Ybarra, Joey Ybarra, Michael Casarez of Muncie IN, Joshua Boney, Isaiah Martinez of Nampa ID, Destinee Arthurs, Jade Arthurs; and his two sisters-in-law, Jasmyn Gabaldon and Ariel Zavalza; 19 nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; along with a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad, David Martinez; his grandparents, Lola and Rudy Martinez; his father, Donovan Arthurs; his Grandpa Hess; his Aunt Linda Ybarra; his angel baby with his wife Jarica Ybarra; his brother-in-law, Demetri Zavalza; his fellow chemo warriors, Rob Martell, Shaylene Parry, and Paul Murawski.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends are invited to gather and visit with family in remembrance of the remarkable life of this incredible man on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to David’s wife via Venmo @Jarica-Ybarra or directly to the mortuary.
