Richard Joseph Gatt

Aug 16, 2023

Born in 1956, Richard Joseph Gatt left this earth on July 20, 2023, and entered Jesus’ embrace after battling cancer.

After growing up in California and Florida, and attending college in New York and Utah, Richard found his dream career as a registered nurse for the past five years. In addition to providing for his family, he volunteered countless hours in healthcare in the local community. He was especially proud of his work administering the Covid vaccination, alongside his wife at the health department. In his first career, Richard was a gifted photographer with his own photography business. Once he became a nurse, he combined his skills to photograph human anatomy. When Richard wasn’t working, he enjoyed many adventures with his wife, including rock-hounding explorations, camping, antiquing, and riding their Harley.

Richard was preceded in death by his father Louis Gatt, mother Joan Grace, stepfather Philip Grace, and his siblings Joanie and David. Richard is survived by his beloved, devoted wife of the past 12 years, Amanda Rissi-Gatt, along with their small zoo of pets, each of which he gifted to his wife. He lovingly and intentionally named the pets after family members so he would, in his words “always have them close to my heart.” He is survived also by his three children, Kimberly, Ricky, and Natasha, granddaughter Lily, 12 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2055 North Church Street, Layton, Utah.
