Lew Ann Shurtliff West
April 9, 1925 — April 26, 2023
Our loving Grama, Lew Ann (Shurtliff) West, passed away on Wednesday April 26, 2023, at the youthful age of 98.
Grama was born April 9, 1925, to Lewis and Floss E. (Hicks) Shurtliff in Ogden. She graduated from Ogden High School and lived here her entire life. On January 7, 1943, she married Grampa, William H. West, in Paris, ID. She raised two sons, Lewis Alva West and William Chris West.
Grama was an avid golfer and bowler for which she played on many local leagues. She loved camping and was a talented musician, everyone remembers her singing around the campfire with her guitar. She spent her days tending to her yard, especially her roses. Our grandparents loved to party and belonged to “The Tuesday Group” where they and friends would meet every week to bowl, golf, play cards or dice and drink beer. She was a frequent guest at our parties and we have countless memories of her singing, playing shuffleboard and beer pong.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Wendi (Allen) Vincent, Willow (Clay) Monahan, and Jenny (Ryan) Lewis; and grandson, Nicholas West. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Meghan, Carson, Mason, and Xander; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her two sons, and one grandson, Wyatt West.
We want to extend our appreciation to Amada Senior Care, especially Taylor E. and Irina R.; Inspiration Hospice, Taylor C. and Tamara. She loved you and valued your companionship.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 29,2023, at 10 a.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery. A celebration of her long life will be held at her home following the services. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
