Benjamin Bradley Sims

Nov 18, 2022

Benjamin Bradley Sims passed away on November 8, 2022, surrounded by his loving family after a tragic hiking accident near his home on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. He was born in Ogden, Utah on April 5, 1982 to Brad and Marilyn Sims. He was a graduate of Fremont High School and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New York, New York City North Spanish Speaking Mission. Upon attending Weber State University, Ben followed his entrepreneurial spirit. Ben owned his own car lot and obtained his real estate license, where he had multiple investments and real estate flips. That entrepreneurial drive motivated Ben to work even harder. Each business venture was met with the same motive: to provide for his wife and family.

He married the love of his life, Aimee Baldwin, on June 29, 2006 in the Salt Lake Temple. Aimee made Ben’s life complete and together they worked so hard to build the future of their dreams. He absolutely adored Aimee and was so motivated by their love that he worked tirelessly to create a quality work-life balance. He loved being a dad and sharing his interests and hobbies with his children. His beautiful daughters, Ari and Quinn, and his sweet little boy, Roman, were the light of his life. They love their dad and will miss him dearly. He was so gentle and warm towards them, their daily walks on the beach and weekly “adventures” created an unbreakable bond. In the back seat of his truck he had a place for Roman’s hiking pack. He was always ready to bring along his little boy.

Ben enjoyed the outdoors, and he loved to be active. He spent time with his dad, brother, and in-laws hunting, golfing, fishing and just enjoying their company. Trying new things and accepting new challenges in sports, hiking, skateboarding, surfing, and fitness gave him so much joy.

He loved the Savior and quietly followed his example. His Love for the Lord manifested through his daily actions and the way he treated people. He was a true friend and accepted everyone without judgement and was always willing to be a listening ear. He was trustworthy, loyal, and possessed a voice of reason that could calmly resolve conflict.

Ben slowly and patiently moved his family to Hawaii in pursuit of living their dreams where he helped a small solar and roofing company (Skyta) become the company it is now. He was a model professional and created a blueprint for company growth and success. His work colleagues became his friends and part of his “Hawaii Ohana” along with very supportive ward members and neighbors.

Ben is survived by his wife, Aimee, and his three children Ari Jane (11), Quinn Lorene (9) and Roman Thunder (1). Also, by his parents, Brad and Marilyn Sims, his siblings and their spouses, Angie (Ryan) Henderson, Mandy (Jamie) Minnoch, Katie (Adam) Doxey, Megan (Jeremy) Splattstoeser, and Jared (Amber) Sims. Also, by his in-laws, Dwight and Cindy Baldwin and their two sons Shane (Angie) Baldwin and Caleb (Casee) Baldwin and all his nieces and nephews. We love you, Ben! He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Max and Selma Wilson and Jack and Katherine Sims and by Aimee’s grandparents Robert and Lorene Russell
