DeeAnn Sanders Judd

DeeAnn was born to Leo Dee Sanders and Jean Sanders on June 26, 1947. In 1965, she met her sweetheart Barry Gene Judd while attending Utah State University on a blind date at A&W Drive-in and they were married on June 7, 1968. They were later sealed in the Bountiful temple on June 9, 2018, two days after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

DeeAnn spent 35 years as an educator and administrator with the majority of her time being at Layton High School where she taught home economics and pioneered a restaurant curriculum.

DeeAnn concluded her professional career at the administrative offices of Davis County Schools. DeeAnn touched the lives of countless students and many of her fellow educators and her impact is one that truly cannot be measured and lives on with those whom she touched.

DeeAnn enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to work side by side with her Father on their hobby farm. She loved weekends at the Sanders Sanity Savers Bear Lake Cabin. She also spent many memorable summers enjoying the beauty of Yellowstone National Park. Later in her life she enjoyed basking in the beautiful surroundings of St. George, Utah. Throughout her life, DeeAnn enjoyed traveling the world including Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and many places closer to home.

DeeAnn was fiercely loyal and devoted to her family and would do anything for them. While she was not blessed with any daughters, she treated her many nieces as if they were her own. She found joy in sharing with others the accomplishments of her sons and their families. There was never a birthday or holiday that went without a thoughtful card and gift. DeeAnn adored her grandchildren and was always excited to hear of their life’s pursuits. Whether it was cheering them on from the sidelines of a sporting event to attending important life milestones to a thoughtful call or text, DeeAnn left no doubt the love she had for her grandchildren.

DeeAnn is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Barry Gene Judd and her two sons Derrick (Michelle) and Dustin (Cambrie) and her six grandchildren Quincy, Dyson, Kendrie, Jakobe, Jevin, and McKaylee; her sisters Ella Smith (Deane), Marilyn Ashby (Ned), and foster sister Cindy Stybe; and 12 nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Rayma Thota and her team at IHC as well as thanks to Dr. Mitesh Borad and his team at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale and Dr. Vaia Florou and her team at Huntsman Cancer Institute for their care and expertise and helping DeeAnn fight this battle. The family would also like to give thanks to the compassionate staff of the Huntsman Cancer Institute ICU for the loving care they provided to DeeAnn.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Forest Park Ward Chapel, 2250 East 2200 North, Layton, Utah. Friends and Family may visit with family Sunday November 20, 2022 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Interment will be at the Kaysville City Cemetery.

DeeAnn so loved Cache Valley and Utah State University that she and Barry established the “Barry Gene & DeeAnn Judd Aggie Family Scholarship Endowment” available to students in need campus wide. Education was dear to her heart.
