Bert Earl Swenson Jr. “Bert The Bull”

Bert Earl Swenson Jr. was born on April 12, 1958, to Bert Earl Swenson Sr. and Carol Ann Johnson at Hill Air Force Base in Roy, Weber UT.
Bert graduated from Morgan High in 1977. He served an LDS mission in Bristol, England from 1978 to 1980. Shortly after his mission, Bert served the community of Fiji by helping build an LDS chapel with his family. Bert served in the US Navy as a cook from September 1981 to December 1989 on the USS Duncan.
On July 23, 1991, he was married to his sweetheart Paula Ann Barnhill in the Ogden LDS temple. Bert gained four daughters from Paula’s previous marriage: Rebecca, Rachel, Ruth, and Mary. Bert and Paula also had two daughters together: Katrina and Chelsea. He also had 11 grandchildren. Bert was a dedicated worker at Kimberly Clark for 12 years and Utility Trailer for 17 years.
Bert’s joys of life included, making memories through recording family home videos, and goof off videos, collecting rare music including vinyl records and CDs, hiking, and having fun teasing pets, or animals of any kind, serving the Lord through temple service and church callings, and spending quality time with his family.
Bert was returned to his Heavenly Father on his 64th birthday, April 12, 2022. He passed away from a pulmonary embolism while in recovery after spinal surgery. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones as he was guided home to Heaven.
Bert is survived by his loving wife, Paula Swenson – Farr West, UT; His siblings, Lorraine McAuliffe – Ogden, UT; Jay Flitton (Heidi)- Sunset, UT; Joann Flitton – South Ogden, UT; Mark Flitton – Ogden, UT; Matthew Flitton (Karen) – South Ogden, UT; Trish Sommercorn (Mike) – Murray, UT; Diane Swenson – UT county; Chad Flitton – Gunnison, UT; And his daughters Rebecca Foote (John) – West Weber, UT; Rachel Julien (Steve) – Bradenton, Fl; Ruth George (Dustin) – Roy, UT; Mary Nelson – Clearfield, UT; Katrina Swenson – Salt Lake City, UT; Chelsea Griffin (Zane) – Layton, UT. He was preceded in death by Bert Earl Swenson Sr., Carol Flitton, and Dee Flitton.
Bert was a wonderful example his whole life and always stood up for what he believed in. He consistently showed such high integrity and work ethics. He was a very loving husband and father, who will be greatly missed. This world lost a most loyal, kind, loving and gentleman. Yet, Heaven gained a valiant warrior.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11 am at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6-8 pm and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 am at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
