WASHINGTON TERRACE -- In desperate need of a win to lock up a state 4-A baseball tournament berth, the Roy Royals broke out the bats on Friday afternoon.
The Royals blasted past rival Bonneville 4-2, just their second win overall since the middle of April.
The victory improved Roy's record to 10-9 on the season, 6-7 in Region play with two games to go in the regular season.
Cy Bambrough started the scoring following three scoreless innings with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth.
The Royals would added another run in the fourth and follow up with a run in the fifth.
The host Lakers scored two runs in the sixth inning, but were unable to push any more across the plate.
Four Royals smacked doubles, including Greyson Flint, Skyler Coombs, Tyson Stander and Connor McGuire. Meanwhile, Braxton Patton picked up the win on the mound for the Royals.
Jesse Jones and Kade Hall had doubles for the Lakers (9-1, 2-11). Kacey Cundick took the loss on the mound.
* SKY VIEW 2, MOUNTAIN CREST 1: At Hyrum, visiting Sky View won a nail-biter with the Mustangs. Austin Heaps came up with a big double for the Bobcats.
Zachary Hansen earned the win on the mound for Sky View. McKay Smith took the loss for Mountain Crest.
* BOX ELDER 8, LOGAN 1: At Logan, the Bees toppled the league-leading Grizzlies on their home diamond. No details were reported on the game.
Box Elder (4-9, 10-11) has two games with Bonneville next week.
* CYPRUS 6, CLEARFIELD 5: At Magna, the visiting Falcons outhit the Pirates 13-11, but their comeback went for naught in another tough league loss.
Down 4-2, Clearfield score three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead. But after yielding the tying score in the bottom half of the inning, the Falcons watched as Cyprus score the winning run in its final at-bat.
Jordan Quinn went 4 for 4 with a double and a triple, and Parker Loutensock picked up the win on the mound for the Pirates.
Cameron Facer took the loss for the Falcons.
In another league game, Region 6-leading Bountiful topped rival Woods Cross 6-1.
