Riverdale man accused of severely beating infant daughter

RIVERDALE- Police have arrested a 25-year-old man on allegations that he severely beat his 4-month-old daughter.

Kyle Croxford, of Riverdale, was booked Thursday into the Weber County Jail on five counts of child abuse with serious injury. He was being held Friday night in jail on $50,000 bond.

Croxford’s daughter was taken to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City on Wednesday where doctors discovered she had suffered from subdural bleeding in the brain, a left broken collar bone, a right broken rib, two separate fractures to the left upper and lower leg and a right adrenal gland hemorrhage,  says a probable cause affidavit filed by Riverdale police in 2nd District Court.

Information about her medical condition was not available Friday night.

Croxford confessed to police that he intentionally and knowingly caused serious injury to his daughter, the affidavit states. He reportedly told investigators the abuse began about a month ago when the girl’s collar bone was broken.

Croxford refused to render medical aid to his daughter because he was afraid the abuse would be discovered, the affidavit says. The affidavit does not provide a motive for the abuse.
