Masked gunman sought in 3 SLC robberies

SALT LAKE CITY -- Police in Salt Lake City say they're looking for a masked gunman believed to be responsible for three convenience store robberies within about 45 minutes on Christmas Eve.

Police Lt. Carl Nerino tells KSL-TV the man also wore a black hooded sweatshirt and gloves in the robberies about 7:15 p.m. Monday at a 7-Eleven on 3rd Avenue, about 7:30 p.m. at a 7-Eleven on 400 South, and about 8 p.m. at a Tesoro gas station on 1300 South.

Each time, the man displayed a handgun and demanded money.

Nerino says a customer intervened in the Tesoro store, and the gunman left within a matter of seconds.

No injuries are reported.

Police say the suspect is thin, white, about 6 feet tall and may be in his 20s or 30s.
