Woman upset Obama won runs down non-voting husband

GILBERT, Ariz. — A Gilbert woman critically injured her husband by running over him with an SUV during an argument over the presidential election, police said.

Holly Solomon, 27, opposed President Barack Obama’s re-election and was upset that her husband didn’t cast a vote in the race, authorities said.

The husband told investigators that Solomon believed her family was going to face hardship if Obama were re-elected.

Solomon chased her husband through a parking lot with an SUV, circled him as he took refuge behind a light pole and eventually struck him as he tried to flee, police said. The husband was pinned beneath the SUV’s underside and a curb.

Solomon told police that she was trying to scare her husband by stopping the vehicle close to him but accidentally stepped on the accelerator and struck him.

There were no signs Solomon was impaired.

She was booked on an aggravated assault count, but it’s not clear whether she has a lawyer.

Solomon had no listed phone number.
