WSU student-athletes collect 2,000 shirts for charity

OGDEN -- Student-athletes from Weber State University recently staged a T-shirt drive, collecting more than 2,000 shirts to donate to charity.

The Weber State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) participated in a Big Sky Conference wide T-shirt drive competition in October. Fans were encouraged to donate T-shirts of all sizes in good condition at WSU football, volleyball and soccer games.

Over the two week period Weber State collected 2,119 t-shirts, $115 in cash and 315 pairs of shorts/pants. The items collected were donated to the St. Anne’s Center in Ogden.

“It was great to see how all the student-athletes really got involved and were excited to collect and donate the T-shirts,” said Sara Federico, the WSU SAAC president and a member of the Weber State women’s golf team. “The T-shirt drive turned out great and I’m so proud of everyone involved.  Each day I am truly amazed at what our student-athletes and community do to help others.”

WSU SAAC will be participating in a conference wide shoe drive in February.
