Utah man faces 3rd DUI charge in 3 days; no bail now

LOGAN — A 41-year-old Utah man is behind bars after police in Logan charged him with driving under the influence three times in three days. Police are investigating and suspect he was impaired by some sort of prescription medication.

Assistant Police Chief Jeff Curtis said Daniel Kropf of St. George was arrested most recently July 10. He was arraigned in 1st District Court on third-degree felony DUI on Thursday and scheduled to return to court Monday.

Cache County Sheriff’s deputies first booked Kropf into the jail July 8 on suspicion of driving under the influence, a class A misdemeanor. He bailed out of jail but was picked up July 9, when Logan police responded to a medical call and found him impaired again in his vehicle.

Curtis says Kropf was behind the wheel of a black Escalade when he was arrested again about 6:30 p.m. July 10. He told KSTU-TV the nature of the DUI suspicion was prescription medication.

Cache County prosecutor Tony Baird said a judge granted the request Thursday to hold him without bail. Kropf remained jailed Sunday. Spokeswomen for the police department and jail said they would have no information on whether Kopf had a lawyer before Monday.
