Drunken driver hits Provo liquor store wall

PROVO — Provo police suspect a man was under the influence when he crashed his car at a liquor store and tried to drive into his garage while the door was down.

Authorities say they got a call Monday that a vehicle hit a cinderblock retaining wall at the State Liquor Store in Provo and left the scene with significant damage to the car and the wall.

Officers followed tire marks to a home, where they found the same driver had jumped a sidewalk and entered the backyard. The vehicle struck a tree and ran over a rose bush before leaving that scene.

Police eventually found the vehicle had crashed into a closed garage door.

Authorities arrested 42-year-old Noah Rewis on suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
