Rex Lee Young

Rex Lee Young of Sunset celebrated his 90th birthday. A family party will be held in his honor today, May 20, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Kellie and Bill Boudreau.

He was born May 17, 1922, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, to Preston and Ida Albertha Lee Young. He married Carol Decker on March 1, 1946, in Manti. She died on April 27, 2012.

He and his family moved to Utah when he was a baby. He is the last surviving member of 11 children in his family.

He worked at several jobs in Salt Lake City before being hired at Hill Air Force Base. After 25 years of working there, he retired to take care of his wife. He donated blood throughout the years with the recorded amount of 28 gallons.

He enjoys being with family, especially the grandchildren, watching wrestling on television, sleeping, eating Hershey Bars, and riding all over town in his wheelchair.

His children and their spouses are Leslie D. Young, Douglas R. Young (deceased), Karen Young and Jimbo Blain, Pamela Young Maurer, Kellie Young and Bill Boudreau, and daughter-in-law Leigh Young.

He has 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren (one great-grandchild on the way) and one great-great-grandchild.
