Busy stretch awaits RSL after weeklong break

SANDY -- After a short reprieve, Real Salt Lake gets back to business tonight.

Taking the pitch for the first time since last weekend's dramatic victory over Toronto, Salt Lake takes aim at a New England side that is bracing for its third match in eight days, hosting the Revolution tonight at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Kickoff between RSL and New England is set for 7 p.m.

Real ended a blistering three-match, eight-day stretch with the win over Toronto last Saturday, and tonight's match with New England starts another grueling series that will also include stops in Chicago and Seattle.

Having a rare full seven days between matches, RSL boss Jason Kreis opted to give his squad a few days off earlier this week.

"The guys were really, really sharp today in practice," Kreis told MLSSoccer.com's Randy Davis on Wednesday. "I think they enjoyed their couple days off and they deserved it. Now we've got to get ourselves prepared pretty quickly for New England and another three-game week.

"When you go through a tough stretch and then you have a week you are kind of like, 'Wow, this is a lot of time to prepare.' "

After next weekend's match at Seattle, Real will find itself in completely unfamiliar territory, as the team has just one match, a May 26 date with FC Dallas, in the following 35 days.

New England is 1-1-0 so far during its matchweek, breaking a three-match skid by knocking off Colorado 2-1 at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday.

Rio Tinto has been an absolute House of Horrors for New England over the past three seasons, with Real having poured in a staggering 14 goals in three matches between the sides in Utah.
