Montana State names McGiven offensive coordinator

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Montana State football coach Rob Ash has named Kevin McGiven the team's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

McGiven is familiar with the Big Sky Conference, having been an assistant at Weber State from 2006-2008. The Wildcats beat both Montana and Montana State in 2008 and advanced to the FCS playoffs.

Ash says McGiven is innovative, has great experience and builds an offense around the available talent while also creating game plans to attack the opponent's defense.

McGiven comes to MSU after two seasons at Memphis, first as quarterbacks coach and last season adding assistant head coaching duties. McGiven was assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach at Utah State in 2009. He also has coached at Southern Utah and as a graduate assistant at BYU, where he received his master's degree in 2005.
