Volunteers needed for state park work

ANTELOPE ISLAND -- State park officials are looking for volunteers to celebrate with them on Sept. 24, National Public Lands Day, by helping staff enhance the area surrounding the historic Fielding Garr Ranch on Antelope Island.

Activities will begin at 10 a.m., and include trimming trees and shrubs, weed removal, and small painting projects, state park officials said.

Participants are encouraged to bring gloves, water and snacks, with tools to be provided by the park.

Volunteers must be 12 years or older.

Volunteers will receive a free service T-shirt while supplies last, and a light lunch.

For more information or to register to volunteer, email robinwatson@utah.gov.
