LAYTON -- A taste of old Hollywood will come to Davis County in a few weeks.
The Davis County Gala is set for Sept. 8 at the Davis Conference Center, 1651 N. 700 West.
Titled "Glitz & Glam," the gala will feature an old Hollywood feel, said Neka Roundy, one of the event's organizers.
Entertainment will be provided by Jason Hewlett, a Salt Lake City-area impressionist, musician and comedian who impersonates Hollywood legends and other famous performers.
Proceeds for the event will go the Davis County 4-H After School Program. A joint effort between the Davis School District and the Davis County 4-H, the program brings supervised activities, opportunities and resources to disadvantaged children.
The program provides essential learning and hands-on experiences in art, life skills, performing arts, nutrition, drug and alcohol prevention, service and social skills.
In the past, the gala has donated proceeds to The Arts Council of Davis County, Hill Air Force Base, The Children's Justice Center, and the Davis Community Learning Center, with total proceeds donated topping $240,000.
Black tie or Hollywood costumes are encouraged.
"It will be really fun and elegant," Roundy said.
